Fresh from his win in the pairs, James R sent up the first stone landing some 25cm from the button. Andy R, Rhona, Georgie, Sheila, Colin and James H also competed, but it was the second stone from Brian before the measure had to be retracted. His winning stone was touching the tee, and ensures Brian's name on the trophy for the first time since 2006.

In a rather one sided final James R & Georgie won this year's Broadlie Cup pairs competition against Sheila & Colin. See how.

Doubles - League section complete

At the end of the league section in the doubles competition the two seeded teams will meet in the final. Sheila and Colin will face Rosemary and Alan G in the final after both teams scored 2 wins out the three matches. The third/fourth playoff will be between Andy C & Alan S and Rhona and James H. Both matches take place on Monday 24th with the final over 6 ends at 20:30, followed by the third/fourth playoff over 4 ends at 21:45.

Neilston Points Shield

The Points shield was won by Billy Ferrie in a close competition with 44 points. The winner is pictured below (centre) with runner up Brian (extreme left) and third placed Alan (between Brian & Billy).

 

 

80s Revival

On Saturday 1st February Billy Ferrie won the Points Shield having outplayed almost 50 competitors. Ferrie (70) said the last time he had won the trophy was on outside ice on the Peesweep Dam in 1983. Commenting on the achievement the spouse of the President said at a hastily arranged press briefing at 2am on Sunday 2 February, with many club members present and most full of spirit: "Billy Ferrie deserves to be player of the year."
